Women's Golf finishes sixth at Marian InvitationalSeptember 26, 2009Baxter leads Warriors in season's first event
FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s golf team finished sixth among seven teams at the Marian University Invitational Friday and Saturday at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. It was the Warriors’ first competition of the fall season. Sophomore Anna Baxter (Oregon, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) placed 17th overall in a field of 36 golfers for WLC. Baxter carded rounds of 109 and 107, respectively, and was tops among the four Warriors finishers. Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran), a freshman, and junior Emily Foster (Brookfield, Wis./East) shot two-round totals of 229 and 234 to finish 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Senior Shannon Buboltz (Appleton, Wis./West) rounded out Wisconsin Lutheran’s finishers by placing 29th with a 269. The Warriors finished with a combined team score of 948 for sixth place. Edgewood College was crowned invite champion after turning in a team score of 754. Concordia Wisconsin’s Muriel McIntyre was named meet medalist after carding a two-round score of 169. Wisconsin Lutheran’s next scheduled competition is the Northern Athletics Conference Championship October 4 and 5 at Glen Erin Golf Course in Janesville, Wis. |
