RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's Kelly Petty registered three goals and two assists as the Stars defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 8-0 on Wednesday in a Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer game at West Campus Field. The NAC-leading Stars (6-3, 6-0 NAC) scored six first-half goals and followed up with two more in the second half en route to defeating the Warriors. Mary Hoemeyer led Dominican with nine shots, while tallying a goal and a pair of assists. Katie Petty, Elizabeth Ficek and Rosa Andrueccetti registered DU's other three goals. The Stars finished the game with 51 shots. Junior goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) amassed 18 saves in the match for WLC, which received its lone shot from freshman Meghan Goetzinger (Ottawa, Ontario/Luther Preparatory). After allowing five goals within a 10-minute span during the first half, the Warriors held the Stars to just two second-half goals while facing 24 shots. Wisconsin Lutheran (3-8, 1-4 NAC) continues its road swing on Saturday when it faces Marian University in a 2:30 p.m. NAC matchup in Fond du Lac, Wis. |
