MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Lutheran College came up on the short end of a 1-0 loss to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars on Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer contest at a chilly Warrior Field. The Warriors (4-11, 2-7 NAC) battled the visiting Cougars to a scoreless draw through the first 45 minutes of action. Junior goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) finished the half with six saves for WLC. CUC (6-9, 3-5 NAC) netted the eventual game-winning goal 6:07 into the second half of action when Lauren Souza scored on an assist from Cheyenne Martinez-Trevino. Nine of the Cougars' 24 shots in the game came off the foot of Souza. WLC had three shots the rest of the way, but all were halted by CUC keeper Jessica Hedrick. The Warriors' five attempts came from junior Meta Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) (three) and freshman Krystal Weishaar (Westfield, Wis./Montello) (two). Sloan accumulated 11 of her 17 saves in the second half. Wisconsin Lutheran returns to the pitch this weekend when it travels to Madison, Wis., for a NAC matchup with Edgewood College. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. at Breese Stevens Field. |
