Frelich, Schumacher set school records at Wis.-Parkside Classic
Warriors put together strong showing at non-scoring invite

Sophomore Alyssa SchumacherKENOSHA, Wis. - Sophomore Alyssa Schumacher (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and freshman Sarah Frelich (Maribel, Wis./Denmark) each set school records for the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's track & field team on Saturday at the Wis.-Parkside Track & Field Classic at the Frank Petretti Fieldhouse
Schumacher set a school-record in the 1,000-meter run with her time of 3:15:50 that surpassed the 1998 school-record time of 3:22:00 set by Jenny Pena. Schumacher finished the race in third place with her record time.
Also entering the school record books was Frelich, who ran a 1:48.80 in the 600-meter run. Her time broke the previous school record of 1:49:22 set by Rulena Carlin in 2002. Frelich finished the event in third place out of eight competitors.
Several other Warriors also headlined on Saturday. Freshman Amanda Markham (Oostburg, Wis./Oostburg) qualified for finals and placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.39 preliminaries/9.47 finals). Markham also finished eighth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 48.17. Freshman Amanda Bregger (Waukesha, Wis./South) notched a seventh-place finish in the pole vault competition (7’ 6”). The Warriors 4x400-meter relay team also landed a sixth-place finish (4:37:19).
Wisconsin Lutheran will be back in action next Saturday, February 11 at the Wis.-Platteville Invite at the Williams Fieldhouse in Platteville, Wis. Events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
