Brett Valerio is in his 14th season as an assistant on Skip Noon's men's basketball coaching staff. He also serves as Wisconsin Lutheran's registrar, a position he has held since the summer of 2000, and the athletics department's NCAA coordinator for compliance and eligibility.
"Warriors basketball is about competing all the time and growing as student-athletes and responsible Christian men," says Valerio. "Our philosophy is to build a system around the player’s strengths, trying to give them the best possible opportunity to be successful."
As a player, the 1997 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College helped the Warriors to their first two Lake Michigan Conference championships. As a junior in 1996, Valerio started all 29 games and earned LMC Honorable Mention honors as the Warriors advanced to the final eight of the NAIA Championships. He captained the team as a senior, but his career ended abruptly 12 games into the season when he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Valerio started working in the Wisconsin Lutheran public relations office with special projects for athletics before moving to the registrar’s office in January of 1998.
Valerio and his wife, Andrea, live in Pewaukee, Wis., with their three children, Karah, Timothy and Brenna.
