WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College junior men's basketball player Collin Kennedy (Holmen, Wis.) has been named First Team All-NACC while his teammate, senior Chase Nowak (Milwaukee, Wis.), was a NACC Honorable Mention selection, it was announced Thursday as the 2017-2018 postseason awards were released by the league office.
Kennedy, a three-time First Team All-NACC selection, ranked second in the league in scoring (21.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg) while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. The junior forward reached double figures in 24 of WLC's 25 contests, and registered five 30-plus point performances. Kennedy, the NACC's leader in free throw makes, collected nine double-doubles on the season, including a 36-point, 16-rebound effort November 28 vs. Concordia Chicago.
Nowak, an Honorable Mention selection, ranked sixth in the league in scoring (17.2 ppg) while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. The senior swingman also averaged 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Nowak shot 80.4 percent from the charity stripe, good for fourth in the league. The only player on the team to start every game, Nowak scored in double figures in 22 contests, including a career-high 36 points December 16 at Benedictine. Nowak, who surpassed the 1,000-point mark January 20 vs. Concordia Wisconsin, finished his Warriors career with 1,136 points, ranking 15th in program history.
Aurora's Marcus Myers was tabbed Player of the Year while his coach Lance Robinson was named Coach of the Year. Rockford's Trae Blumhorst was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Concordia Wisconsin's Jordan Johnson was selected as Freshman of the Year.
The Warriors wrapped-up their 2017-2018 season with an overall record of 8-17 and a 7-13 mark in the NACC under first-year head coach Aaron Aanonsen.
