George Haas is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball team.
Prior to joining the Warriors coaching staff, Haas coached for six seasons at Carroll University in Waukesha. During his tenure there, the Pioneers played in the Midwest Conference Tournament Championship game four times. They won the conference tournament for the first time in school history and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament where they went 1-1. Haas was in charge of Carroll's big men and helped develop four players who received all-conference honors.
Before joining the Pioneers, Haas was a highly-successful coach at Wauwatosa East High School for 27 years – 13 years as the junior varsity coach and 14 years as the varsity head coach. His teams won 482 games, including a 270-50 record at the varsity level.
In his 14 years as a varsity head coach, Wauwatosa East won 12 conference championships, while advancing to the WIAA state tournament in 1997 and 2002. Haas won several conference Coach of the Year awards and was named the WBCA Coach of the Year in 2002.
During his high school tenure, Haas coached several players who went on to successful collegiate careers and four players that eventually played in the National Basketball Association – Tony Smith, Devin Harris, Scott Merritt, and Jerry Smith.
