WEST DUNDEE, Ill. - Sophomore Pete Kaufmann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) finished seventh overall to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College varsity men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Tim Kopka Invitational with a score of 623. The Warriors' B team took 10th place out of 16 competing teams with a total of 634 at the event, which was held at Randall Oaks Golf Club.
Kaufmann shot a one-under 70 followed by an 80 for a two-round score of 150, going eight over par to finish tied for seventh in the field. Freshman Tyler Hallmann (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) recorded a 153 to lead the B team and finish tied for 19th.
Freshman Garrett Ralston (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) fired a 155 to tie for 27th in the field. He was followed by junior Danny Frawley (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) who shot 157, junior Jake Gaudynski's (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) 158, and sophomore Sean Esenberg's (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) 159.
Sophomore Jacob Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) and freshman Tyler Wood (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) each recorded a 163. Senior Dan Leiberis (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) posted a 168 and senior Gordon Tews (Campbellsport, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) shot 171 for WLC.
Carthage won the event with a team total of 579. Riley Bauman of Carthage was the top individual finisher with a two-under 140.
WLC will compete at the Benedictine Fall Invite Sunday starting at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Golf & Country Club in West Chicago, Ill.
