HARTFORD, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College junior men's golfers Pete Kaufmann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) and Jacob Mortell (Eden Prairie, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) each shot 148 (+4) to tie for third out of 81 golfers at the 36-hole WLC Fall Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Washington County Golf Course. The Warriors combined for a team score of 613 (+37) to take fourth place out of 15 teams at their home invite.
Kaufmann and Mortell fired matching scores in consecutive rounds, each posting three-over 75 Sunday and one-over 73 Monday. Jake Gaudynski (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) carded a 158 (78-80) to tie for 31st and Sean Esenberg (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished just a shot behind him (78-81) in a tie for 34th. Tyler Wood (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) recorded a 167 (83-84) for the Warriors
Danny Frawley (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led WLC's second team with a score of 154 (78-76) to tie for 20th.
Carthage's Jarrett Simonson won medalist honors with a one-under score of 143 (67-76) to propel the Red Men to the championship with a team score of 592, 10 shots ahead of runner-up Webster.
Wisconsin Lutheran will hit the links again Saturday at the St. Norbert Invite at Brown County Golf Course, with tee times beginning at 12 p.m.
