Sallmann, Wordell Earn All-NACC Honors For Men's Tennis

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College's Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis.) and Ben Wordell (Mequon, Wis.) have received postseason honors from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, it was announced Friday as the awards for the 2017 men's tennis season were released by the conference office.

Sallmann, who was named to both the All-NACC Singles and Doubles Teams for the third time in his career, posted a 5-3 record in conference play and a 9-13 overall mark for the Warriors at the No. 1 singles position. The senior recorded a .625 winning percentage, which was good for third in the NACC at the No. 1 slot. Sallmann posted a career 42-36 record for WLC in singles competition.

Wisconsin Lutheran's top doubles team of Sallmann and Wordell posted a 5-3 conference record for fifth in the league with a .625 winning percentage. The duo went 6-10 overall at No. 1 doubles.

MSOE swept the conference's major awards as John Price was named NACC Player of the Year and Luke Nelson was named NACC Freshman of the Year. The Raiders' head coach Mike Davidson was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

The Warriors finished their season 3-19 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Sixth-seeded WLC made its fifth straight appearance in the NACC Tournament before falling to third-seeded Edgewood in the first round.
