Warriors Start Season At Private College Invitational

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's track & field team competed Saturday at the season-opening Private College Invitational hosted by Carthage. The Warriors finished with 22 points for fifth place among six scoring teams who were represented at the first indoor meet of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Joel Schamber (Wyoming, Mich.) finished second in the 55-meter hurdles and posted a finals time of 8.65.
  • Jonah Jahns (Germantown, Wis.) sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a finals time of 6.85.
  • Shemron Ross (Grand Anse, Grenada) finished right behind Jahns in the 55-meter dash with a finals time of 6.87 for fifth place. 
  • Caleb Tomlin (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) posted an 800-meter time of 2:14.83 good for sixth place.
  • Jared Traver (Janesville, Wis.) placed seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.07 meters.
  • The Warriors 4x400-meter relay team, which consisted of Ross, TJ McBryde (Zumbrota, Minn.), Schamber, and Tomlin, placed third with a time of 3:40.99.
  • Invite host Carthage captured the team title with 237 points.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors will next compete Saturday, January 27 at the Green and White Invitational hosted by UW-Parkside. Events are scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m. inside Petretti Fieldhouse.
