After 10 years of serving as an assistant coach, James Flegel is in his sixth season as associate head coach for the Wisconsin Lutheran College softball team. Flegel oversees recruiting for Warriors softball as well as game day prep and management responsibilities. He also works with the catchers during team practices. 

Flegel has been associated with the Wisconsin Lutheran athletic department for many years. He played basketball for the Warriors for four seasons (1990-1993) and helped the 1991-1992 squad to a 21-9 overall record.

He graduated from WLC with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1995 and went on to earn his master's of science degree in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2000.

Flegel has coached athletics at a variety of levels. After his collegiate playing days, Flegel joined Skip Noon's WLC men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant from 1993-1995 and 2003-2004. He is currently a school counselor at Brown Deer High School in Brown Deer.

Flegel lives in Milwaukee with his wife, Theresa. His son, Andrew, graduated from WLC in 2017 and played football for the Warriors.
