Lakeland Sweeps Warriors, 9-0

KOHLER, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team was swept 9-0 by Lakeland in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match Tuesday at the Sports Core Health and Racquet Club. The Warriors dropped to 4-9 overall and 4-5 in the NACC, while Lakeland improved to 11-2 and 9-2 in the NACC.

The Muskies won all three doubles matches, but not without a couple of close calls. Kendall Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph's) and Kalyn Geddes (Bend, Ore./Luther Preparatory) fell 8-6 to Victoria Powelson and Lynn Pipke in No. 1 doubles. Susanna Harbach (Nodine, Minn./Luther) and Rachel Klement (Midland, Mich./Homeschooled) were defeated 8-6 by Brittany Jurek and Jenna Oberthaler in No. 3 doubles.

Bonnin entered the match an unbeaten at 8-0 in NACC singles play, but the streak ended in a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Powelson at No. 1 singles. Bethany Soderlund (De Pere, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was defeated 6-3, 6-3 by Maggie Liston in No. 4 singles. Amanda Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) was held off 6-3, 6-4 by Jurek in No. 5 singles. 

The Warriors (4-9, 4-5 NACC) will wrap-up the fall season with two NACC matches Saturday when they face Rockford (0-9, 0-9 NACC) at 10 a.m. and Edgewood (10-3, 9-0 NACC) at 2 p.m. at Hart Park.
