WLC Records Top-Five Finish At Warrior Invitational

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) placed 23rd overall to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish out of 16 scoring teams at the Warrior Invitational at a soggy Greenfield Park on Saturday afternoon.

WARRIORS TOP FIVE PERFORMERS

  • Balts paced the Warriors with a 23rd-place finish.
  • Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was right behind Balts, placing 26th with a time of 26:44.24. 
  • Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) completed the 6K course in a time of 27:54.96 for 48th place.
  • Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Ga./Homeschooled) finished the course in a time of 28:12.12.
  • Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) crossed the line right behind Curtis, finishing in a time of 28:15.67.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

  • St. Norbert, which had six runners place inside the top 15, took home the team title with 39 points, just two less than runner-up Edgewood.
  • Dubuque's Fabiola Ortiz captured the individual 6K race crown with a time of 23:46.68, almost one minute faster than the second-place finisher.

  • WLC returns to action on Saturday, October 8 at the Principia Cowbell Classic in Elsah, Ill. The women's 6K race is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
