Women's Cross Country Places 10th At Cowbell Classic

ELSAH, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) finished 25th overall to lead the way for the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team at the Principia Cowbell Classic on Saturday morning at Principia's North Farm Facility. The Warriors placed 10th overall among 13 scoring teams at the 6K event.

WARRIORS TOP FIVE PERFORMERS

  • Balts was the Warriors' first runner crossing the line, finish in 25th place.
  • Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was right behind Balts, placing 35th with a personal-best time of 25:19.59.
  • Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) placed third in WLC's lineup, also finishing with a time of 25:59.61.
  • Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) finished behind Stumpner with a time of 26:24.03.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) earned the fifth scoring spot for WLC with a time of 27:31.66.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

  • Southwest Baptist cruised to the team championship with all five of its scoring runners finishing inside of the top 10.
  • The Bearcats' Alexis Fritz recorded a winning 6K time of 22:48.56 to earn the top spot among the 140-runner field.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors return to action next Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Kenosha for the Private College Championships at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Course. The women's 6K race is scheduled for a 12:15 p.m. start.
