Warriors Race To Third Place At Private College Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Cassie Balts (Barron, Wis./Barron) finished 14th overall to lead the way for the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team at the Private College Championships on Saturday afternoon at Parkside's Wayne E. Dannehl National Course. The Warriors placed third overall among 10 scoring teams at the 6K event.

WARRIORS TOP FIVE PERFORMERS

  • Balts was the Warriors' first runner crossing the line, finishing in 14th to earn Second Team All-State honors.
  • Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was right behind Balts, collecting Third Team All-State recognition for 15th place with a time of 25:13.9.
  • Jessica Stumpner (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) also earned Third Team All-State with a 17th-place finish as she crossed the line in 25:18.5.
  • Anna Curtis (Palmetto, Geo./Homeschooled) finished behind Stumpner with a time of 26:00.09.
  • Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) rounded out the top five spots for WLC with a time of 26:31.8.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

  • Carthage raced to the team championship with all five of its scoring runners finishing inside of the top 10.
  • The Lady Reds' Rebecca Lamp recorded a winning 6K time of 23:32.0 to earn the top spot in the 110-runner field.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors return to action in two weeks on Saturday, October 29 when they host the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships at Greenfield Park. The women's 6K race is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
