MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Concordia Wisconsin out-scored Wisconsin Lutheran College 22-10 in the fourth quarter to overcome a seven-point deficit and defeat the Warriors 67-62 on Wednesday at the Time of Grace Center.
The Falcons (2-3, 1-1 NACC) jumped out to a 7-2 first quarter lead over the Warriors (2-3, 0-1 NACC), before a 7-0 surge gave WLC a two-point lead following a layup from sophomore
Haley Ott (Germantown, Wis.) at the 4:04 mark. Freshman Paige Werner (Neenah, Wis.) put Wisconsin Lutheran in front 14-12 after the opening quarter following a buzzer-beating three-pointer.
An 8-0 run from the Warriors early in the second quarter broke a 14-14 tie and gave them a 22-14 advantage after a layup from sophomore
Meggie Scott (Yorkville, Ill.). WLC led by a game-high nine points at 25-16 following a senior
Ally Gough (Horicon, Wis.) three-pointer. CUW battled back to tie the score at 30 apiece before a three from Werner and a three-point play from freshman Jayden Hill (Kenosha, Wis.) sent Wisconsin Lutheran into halftime with a 36-32 lead.
The Warriors scored the first four points of the third quarter for a 40-32 lead. Concordia Wisconsin came within a point behind an 11-4 run to trail 44-43. WLC built its lead back up to seven points at 52-45 at the conclusion of the third period.Â
The Falcons started the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to take their first lead since the early stages of the game. Junior
Sam Leisemann's (Fall River, Wis.) layup with 2:59 remaining gave Wisconsin Lutheran a 60-59 lead. Leisemann added two free throws one possession later to cap the 7-0 scoring run and give the hosts a three-point advantage. CUW answered with a four-point possession and finished the game on a 8-0 run over the final 1:52 to come away with the win.
Leisemann led the Warriors with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Scott and Hill added 11 and nine points, respectively. WLC shot 41.1 percent from the floor and out-scored Concordia Wisconsin's bench 26-7.
Emily Hafemann scored 27 points and Reagan Obry added 16 for the Falcons, who shot 46 percent from the field.Â
