Rodmyre, Micheel Lead Warriors To Fifth At NACC Indoor Championships

RIPON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Sam Rodmyre (Federal Way, Wash.) and sophomore Zeke Micheel (Salt Lake City, Utah) both led the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's indoor track & field team on Friday and Saturday to a fifth-place finish at the NACC Indoor Championships. The Warriors finished with 64 points, their third-highest point total since the conference indoor championships began in 2007.

  • Event: 2022 NACC Indoor Championships
  • Final Results: 5th of 11 (64 Points)
  • Location: Willmore Center, Ripon, Wis.

  • Rodmyre broke his own school record and won the Heptathlon with 4,519 points, which ranks 28th in Division III. He also set a school Pole Vault record twice during the multi-day event with a mark of 4.33m, a record which had stood since 2007.
  • Micheel finished second in 5,000m with a time of 15:26.21, fourth in the Mile with a time of 4:22.92, and seventh in the 3000m with a time of 9:09.86.
  • The Warriors' Distance Medley Relay team of freshman Luke Donart (De Pere, Wis.), sophomore Hans Rupnow (Mankato, Minn.), sophomore August Davis (Springfield, Ill.), and freshman Isaiah Herried (Necedah, Wis.) finished runner-up in a school-record time of 10:52.00.
  • Herried finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:58.90.
  • Senior Michael Sheffler (Appleton, Wis.) finished fifth in the Shot Put (13.11m) and fifth in the Weight Throw (13.82m).
  • Sophomore Peyton Hartman (Montgomery, Ill.) finished fifth in the 5,000m with a time of 15:39.32. He also placed fifth in the 3000m with a time of 9:00.87.
  • Sophomore Jordan Wiesen (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) sprinted to a seventh-place finish in the 200m at 23:49.
  • Senior Chris Krahn (De Pere, Wis.) finished seventh in the Mile with a time of 4:31.75.
  • Donart finished eighth in the 800m in 2:00.51.

  • "We had some amazing performances this weekend. What I'm most proud of is the "family" attitude and atmosphere our team was showing each other the entire weekend. That kind of support helped us to some amazing marks. 53 PR's, 26 WLC Top 10 marks, and seven school records is an amazing way to close out our regular season for indoor. I'm excited for those who will be going to last chance meets and to compete at NCAA's in a couple weeks!" - Head Coach Eric Kramer

  • The Warriors will compete next in a pair of "Last Chance" meets on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at Carthage and Ripon.
