Four Event Wins Lead WLC To Runner-Up At Hanover Invite

HANOVER, Ind. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's outdoor track & field team won four events on Saturday en route to a runner-up finish at the Hanover Invitational at Alumni Stadium. The Warriors finished second out of nine scoring teams with 61 points.

  • Sophomore Jordan Wiesen (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) won the 200m with a personal-best time of 22.91 seconds. He placed second in Long Jump at 5.70m, and third in the 100m in 11.47 seconds.
  • Sophomore Jacob Hefle (Germantown, Wis.) won the 400m with a finishing time of 51.82 seconds. 
  • Sophomore Zeke Micheel (Salt Lake City, Utah) won the 1,500m in a time of 4:15.33. Freshman Luke Donart (De Pere, Wis.) and Isaiah Herried (Necedah, Wis.) came in second and third in the event with times of 4:17.49 and 4:17.95, respectively. Sophomore August Davis (Springfield, Ill.) was also seventh in the 1,500m at 4:24.44.
  • WLC's 4x400m Relay team of Herried, sophomore Hans Rupnow (Mankato, Minn.), Donart, and Davis also topped the five-team field in 3:36.54.
  • Sophomore Peyton Hartman (Montgomery, Ill.) placed second in the 10,000m with a personal-best time of 32:30.36.
  • Senior Sam Rodmyre (Federal Way, Wash.) took home second in Javelin with a throw of 42.76m.
  • Junior Thomas Jungwirth III (Appleton, Wis.) finished third in the 110m Hurdles at 17.73 seconds.
  • Senior Michael Sheffler (Appleton, Wis.) finished fourth in the Hammer (43.82m) and fifth in the Shot Put (12.23m).
  • Senior Cole Kuehl (Richland, Mich.) placed seventh in the Discus with a mark of 36.59m. 

  • "This weekend was as much about team building and relationships as it was competition. This was the first overnight trip we've had since spring 2019. Looking at the results from this meet, I think we definitely grew closer and stronger as a team. 40 PR's, 10 event wins, and 10 WLC Top 10 marks lead to a women's win and men's runner-up finish against some teams we don't normally see." - Head Coach Eric Kramer

  • The Warriors will compete next Saturday at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Carroll at the Dennis Punches Track and Field Complex in Waukesha. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. and running events start at 11 a.m.
