NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) posted a pair of top-10 times in the country to highlight the Wisconsin Lutheran College's men's and women's outdoor track & field teams' performances on Thursday and Friday at the Carius/Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The women's 4x400m relay team also recorded the eighth-fastest time in NCAA Division III this year and sophomore Zeke Micheel (Salt Lake City, Utah) set a school record in the 1,500m.
"What a weekend!" said third-year head coach Eric Kramer. "The women's 4x4 was very impressive, lowering their time and now sitting 8th in the country! Then today we had a lot of PR's in individual events with Zeke and Kendra setting some impressive school records. These athletes have worked so hard through some rough weather, so it's good to see them doing so well when it matters most!"
Schumacher won the 200m with a new school record time of 24.19 seconds, which ranks second in NCAA Division III this season. She also finished runner-up in the 100m with a new school record time of 11.96 seconds, which is good for ninth in the country.
The Warriors' 4x400m relay team of sophomore Anna Raasch (Germantown, Wis.), junior Brooke Graesslin (Janesville, Wis.), junior Grace Weide (Waterford, Wis.), and Schumacher won the five-team event with a time of 3:50.16, which bested the previous school record by 3.23 seconds and ranks eighth nationally on the NCAA Division III performance list.
Sophomore Zeke Micheel (Salt Lake City, Utah) set a new school record in the 1,500m with a time of 3:55.54 for a fourth-place finish in the 35-runner field. He bested the previous school record from 2016 by 3.19 seconds.
Weide posted a sixth-place finish in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.49 seconds. Graesslin finished seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:18.62.
The Warriors will compete at another last chance event before the NCAA announces its qualifiers for the 2022 Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
