Schumacher Advances To 200m Final Following School-Record Race

Rodmyre, Schumacher compete again on Friday

GENEVA, Ohio (WLCSports.com) - Senior Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) qualified for the 200m Final on Thursday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, highlighting the Warriors' men's and women's track & field teams' performances on the first day of the national championships at the SPIRE Institute.

"It was a great first day," said third-year head coach Eric Kramer. "Kendra did her job and got to the finals in the 200 while breaking the school record. Sam had two event PR's and a season best to put himself in good position heading into day two of the Decathlon, which is his better day. Our 4x4 ran their second-best time of the year. I'm excited for day two!"

Schumacher finished second in her preliminary heat and sixth overall among the event's 22 entries with a school-record time of 24.03 seconds, clinching one of the nine qualifying spots in the 200m Final. The final of the 200m will be held at 1:40 p.m. CST on Saturday with the top eight finishers earning All-American honors.

Schumacher will also compete on Friday in the 100m prelims at 2:30 p.m. CST. The three heat winners and next six fastest times will advance to Saturday's 100m Final.

WLC's 4x400m Relay of sophomore Anna Raasch (Germantown, Wis.), junior Brooke Graesslin (Janesville, Wis.), junior Grace Weide (Waterford, Wis.), and Schumacher finished 12th out of 16 teams in the prelims with a time of 3:53.26, their second-best time of the season.

Senior Sam Rodmyre (Federal Way, Wash.) scored 3,262 points through five events of the Decathlon. Rodmyre set personal-best marks in the 100m (11.48 seconds) and Shot Put (12.23m). He'll resume the Decathlon tomorrow at 9 a.m. CST with the first of five multi-events in the 110m Hurdles.
