DE PERE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College started Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday with a 9-0 sweep over St. Norbert at Green Bay Tennis Center.
The Warriors earned three points in doubles play as juniors
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) doubled up Hannah Starr and Emma Merrill 8-4Â at No. 1 doubles. Junior
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and sophomore
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) blanked Megan Pankow and Grace Peters 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Junior
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) and freshman
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) were 8-5 winners over Alyssa Tegen and Grace McCune at No. 3 doubles.
Haskell earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Starr at No. 1, Smith defeated Merrill at No. 2 6-2, 6-3, and Hawley collected a 6-3, 6-0 win over Pankow at No. 3. Schmidt triumphed over Peters at No. 4 6-2, 6-3, Pope put together a 6-2, 6-1 victory over McCune at No. 5, and Meghrian was a 7-6, 6-3 winner at No. 6 over Anna Krupka.
WLC continues conference play tomorrow with a pair of matches against Lakeland (1-2, 0-1 NACC) and Concordia Wisconsin (0-2, 0-0 NACC) at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.Â
