WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College swept Marian 9-0 in a NACC dual match on Saturday at Hart Park.
The Warriors (4-4, 3-2 NACC), who secured their second consecutive sweep, earned three points from the Sabres (4-5, 2-3 NACC) in doubles play.
Juniors
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) defeated Abby Okon and Katrina Pokorny 8-1 at No. 1. Juniors
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) also earned an 8-1 victory at No. 2 over Julia Loomans and Aeryn Olson. Sophomore
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.)Â and freshman
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) blanked Melana Brunton and Madeline Chimenti 8-0 at No. 3.
In singles play, WLC rolled to straight set victories at all six flights. Haskell defeated Olson 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, Smith secured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Okon at No. 2, and Hawley was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 3 over Pokorny. Schmidt, Pope, and Meghrian swept their opponents at No. 4 through No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Wisconsin Lutheran jumps out of conference play on Wednesday for 4 p.m. match at Carroll (4-4) at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha.
