KOHLER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College bounced back from its first conference sweep with a 6-3 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Lakeland on Sunday at Sports Core.
The Warriors (5-4, 5-2 NACC), who notched their 11th straight win over the Muskies (3-3, 2-3 NACC), have won four of their last five conference matches.
WLC collected two wins in doubles play, as seniors
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) defeated LU's Olivia Heling and Kassidee Webb, 8-2, at No. 1. Juniors
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and
Haley Olson (Appleton, Wis.) were victorious at No. 2 over Mary Blossom and Sadie Conway, 8-5.
Wisconsin Lutheran picked up wins at the first three singles positions, where Haskell had little trouble with Heling, 6-0, 6-1, Smith secured a 6-4, 7-5 triumph over Blossom, and Schmidt shutdown Webb, 6-2, 6-0. Olson outlasted Conway in three sets at No. 5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
The Warriors play their final NACC road contest next Saturday at Concordia Chicago (2-9, 2-4 NACC). First serve from CUC Courts is scheduled for 10 a.m.
