WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference fall schedule with a 9-0 sweep over MSOE on Sunday at Hart Park.
The Warriors (7-4, 7-2 NACC), who clinched the No. 3 seed in the spring NACC Tournament for the second straight season, secured their fifth conference sweep of the year by blanking the Raiders (6-8, 5-4 NACC).
WLC claimed identical 8-1 victories over MSOE at all three doubles positions. Seniors
Katelynn Haskell (Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) defeated Stephania Gonzales and Karley Way at No. 1, seniorsÂ
Izzy Hawley (Allen Park, Mich.) and
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) picked up a win over Gabriella Haensgen and Brenna Sheehan at No. 2, and juniors
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and
Haley Olson (Appleton, Wis.) outplayed Michaela Haensgen and Bethany Noonan at No. 3.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which extended its winning streak over Milwaukee School of Engineering to six matches, also cruised through singles play in straight sets. Haskell was a 6-0, 6-4 winner over Way at No. 1, Smith won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 over Gonzales, and Schmidt secured a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 3 over Gabriella Haensgen. At No. 4, Hawley was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Sheehan, Pope picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kelsey Collins at No. 5, and Olson downed Emily Gutknecht 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Warriors turn their attention to the spring season, where they have four non-conference matches scheduled before NACC Tournament First Round play begins on April 29.
