WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College shutout Alverno on Saturday 9-0 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual at Hart Park.
The Warriors (2-3, 2-1 NACC), who won their ninth straight over the Inferno (0-5, 0-5 NACC), including four in a row via shutout, eased to victory at all six contested flights.
Senior
Jena Smith (Lake Mills, Wis.) and junior
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) blanked Spencer Riley and Morgan Golabowski 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Senior
Sky Pope (Macon, Ga.) and sophomore
Mary Meghrian (Peoria, Ill.) posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Elizabeth Wolf-Nowak and Yesenia Perez-Velazquez. WLC won by default at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Smith shutout Riley 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, Schmidt secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Golabowski, Pope posted a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 over Wolf-Nowak, and junior
Haley Olson (Appleton, Wis.) blanked Perez-Velazquez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Wisconsin Lutheran Lutheran picked up wins by default at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Warriors travel to Fond du Lac on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. NACC dual against Marian (0-4, 0-3 NACC) at Fond du Lac High School.
