Wisconsin Lutheran Weathers Cold Shooting To Hand MSOE First NACC Loss

WLC allows fewest points since February 8, 2022

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College weathered a 25.6 percent shooting performance to hand Milwaukee School of Engineering its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loss of the season on Saturday, 42-28, at the Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (8-4, 3-1 NACC), who allowed the fewest point to an opponent since February 8, 2022, held the Raiders (9-4, 3-1 NACC) to single digits over the final three quarters to secure their third straight victory.

MSOE jumped out to a 9-0 lead over WLC three-and-a-half minutes into the first quarter. Wisconsin Lutheran responded with nine straight points of its own, capped by a three from junior Mack Hogenson (Neenah, Wis.), to even the score at the five-minute mark. Senior Sam Leisemann (Fall River, Wis.) scored four of the team's final six points of the opening period and the Warriors led 15-11 after one.

WLC was limited to just one made field goal in the second quarter, coming with 0:59 seconds left, but still managed to outscore Milwaukee School of Engineering 5-4. The teams combined to shoot 3-for-22 in the period, as Wisconsin Lutheran went into halftime in front 20-15.

The Raiders scored the first four points out of the break, but six straight points from the Warriors gave them a 26-19 advantage with four minutes to play. Junior Ainsley Howard's (Jefferson, Wis.) three-pointer in the final minute sent the hosts into the fourth quarter with a 30-23 lead.

WLC netted the first five points of the final frame to build a 12-point lead at 35-23 two minutes in. The margin never dipped into single digits the rest of the game and Wisconsin Lutheran extended its lead to a game-high 16 points after a pair of free throws from senior Meggie Scott (Yorkville, Ill.) in the final minute.

Leisemann led all scorers with 12 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Sophomore Jayden Hill (Kenosha, Wis.), who was one of three players to net six points, pulled down a game- and career-high 10 rebounds. The Warriors forced a season-high tying 21 turnovers and converted them into 19 points.

Mahima Chokshi scored 10 points to pace the Raiders, who shot 30.2 percent (13-for-43) from the floor.

WLC begins a two-game road week on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. NACC matchup against Lakeland (4-9, 2-2 NACC) in Plymouth. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
