JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was topped by Wartburg 7-0 on Sunday in a non-conference dual at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.
The Warriors dropped the opening doubles point to the Knights (12-8), despite a 7-5 win at No. 2 from freshmen
Tai Mitchell (Elm Grove, Wis.)Â and
Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) for their first victory of the season. Senior
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore
Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) were edged 6-4 at No. 1.Â
Wartburg won all six singles matches over WLC, with Smith battling to a 6-3, 6-2 setback at No. 3 and Mitchell coming up short 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4. Â
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-7) travels to Dubuque, Iowa on Friday, April 4 for a 1 p.m. non-conference dual with the Dubuque Spartans (10-8).
