DE PERE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College recorded a fifth-place finish at the St. Norbert Invitational on Saturday at Donald J. Schneider Stadium.
The Warriors were led by a historic performance from junior
Arnold Rupnow (Watertown, Wis.), who won the 3000m with a school-record time of 8:51.45. Rupnow broke a nine-year-old record of 8:52.93 set by Jacob Jodat at the 2017 St. Norbert Twilight.
WLC dominated the 3000m race with the top-six finishers. Freshman
Vaughn Miller (West Allis, Wis.) placed second with a personal-best time of 9:10.63, followed by junior
Silas Ebeling (Wauwatosa, Wis.) in third (9:11.76), senior
Josh Staggs (Oostburg, Wis.) in fourth (9:33.45), senior
Jack Staggs (Oostburg, Wis.) in fifth (9:39.09), and freshman
Will Kesting (Neosho, Wis.) in sixth (9:46.65).
In the 800m, freshman
Caleb Schreiber (Mukwonago, Wis.) added a sixth-place finish with a personal-best time of 1:57.05.
Junior
Noah Micheel (Mequon, Wis.) finished seventh in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:30.70.
Field events saw an additional scoring performance, as sophomore
Cameron Vahldick (Bridgeview, Ill.) placed third in the Javelin with a personal-best throw of 43.41m.
Wisconsin Lutheran also posted several personal-best or season-best performances outside the top eight, including freshman
Sam Splinter (Ixonia, Wis.) (1:58.51), freshman
Anders Gabb (Los Angeles, Calif.) (2:07.40), and senior
Ray Woller (Mount Horeb, Wis.) (2:10.11) in the 800m, sophomore
Nate Nash (Wildomar, Calif.) in the Discus (35.29m) and Shot Put (12.57m), and junior
Brendan Cruz (Cape Coral, Fla.) in the Shot Put (8.55m).
UW-Oshkosh claimed the 14-team title with 227.5 points and eight event victories.
WLC will host the 2026 NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships next Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, at Raabe Stadium. The meet will mark the ninth time Wisconsin Lutheran has hosted the conference outdoor championships.
