MADISON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – No. 6 Wisconsin Lutheran College saw its 2025-2026 season come to a close on Monday with a 4-0 loss to No. 3 Edgewood in the first round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament at Powless Tennis Center.
The Eagles (15-10) secured the opening point by taking two completed doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, junior
Maddy Olson (Onalaska, Wis.) and sophomore
Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) were defeated 6-0 by Evelyn Taylor and Hattie Plenty, while freshman
Lexi Yerges (Beaver Dam, Wis.) and senior
Lucia Gallardo Martos (Torrejon De Ardoz, Spain) dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles to Christina Ekkela and Kaitlyn Narkis. The No. 2 doubles match featuring freshmen
Sophia Schroeder (Tampa, Fla.) and
Addie Prochazka (Sussex, Wis.) against Sophia Perret and Lauryn Krober went unfinished.
In singles play, EU quickly added three straight points to clinch the match. Schroeder fell at No. 3 singles, while Gallardo Martos was defeated at No. 5, and Yerges dropped the No. 6 singles match as Edgewood secured the 4-0 victory with a trio of 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.
Three singles matches were left unfinished at the time of the decision, including No. 1 singles with Olson, No. 2 singles with Smith, and No. 4 singles with Prochazka still in progress.
The Warriors conclude their season with a 3-8 overall record and a 3-5 mark in NACC play. The Eagles advance to face No. 2 St. Norbert on Thursday in a NACC Tournament Semifinal.
