Former Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis standout Ryan Sallmann is in his second season as head coach of the Warriors men's tennis team after serving for four seasons as an assistant. Sallmann also serves as head coach of WLC's women's tennis team, a position he has held for the last three seasons.
Sallmann has guided WLC's women's tennis program to three consecutive NACC Tournament appearances in each of his first three seasons at the helm of the Warriors, a feat never achieved before by the program in the NACC. He has compiled a 15-13 record throughout three seasons of conference play.
The fourth head coach in program history, Sallmann joined the Warriors after accepting a tennis pro position at Lake Country Racquet & Athletic Club in Hartland.
Sallmann brings over five years of coaching experience to the Warriors. His background includes serving as an assistant coach for the Warriors men's tennis program as well as the Waukesha West High School boys and girls varsity teams. Sallmann has also worked for the Waukesha Tennis Association and the Milwaukee Tennis Education Foundation.
A two-time All-NACC Doubles and one-time All-NACC Singles selection, Sallmann played three seasons (2012-2014) for the Warriors. He collected 24 career doubles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, boasting the highest winning percentage (.585) among any doubles player in program history. Sallmann also posted 19 career singles wins, playing primarily at the No. 2 position. As a senior in 2014, Sallmann and the fourth-seeded Warriors won three NACC Tournament matches to earn the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. He graduated from WLC in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in communicative arts.
At Waukesha West High School, Sallmann played two seasons for the Wolverines and was a WIAA Division I State Tournament qualifier and Honorable Mention All-State performer.
