Mitch McCaffery is in his first season as an assistant coach andpitching coach for the Wisconsin Lutheran College baseballteam.
McCaffery joins the WLC coaching staff after pitching for fouryears at NACC foe Dominican, where he posted a 13-14 career record,3.91 ERA, 118 strikeouts, and held opposing batters to a .299batting average. The right-hander set program career records forwins (13), complete games (17), and innings pitched (230.0).McCaffery also set individual season records for wins (6), inningspitched (81), batters faced (366), most fly outs (102), and mostground-outs (94). His best season came as a senior in 2014 when hewas 6-4 with a 2.89 ERA in 10 starts with 81 innings pitched. Hecompiled eight complete games and held opposing hitters to a .276batting average on his way to earning All-NACC HonorableMention.
McCaffery graduated from Dominican in 2014 with a degree inbusiness administration, concentrating in marketing and businessmanagement. He also minored in political science. While at DU,McCaffery served as the Student Athlete Advisory Committeepresident as well as a two-year team captain.
McCaffery lettered in baseball, basketball, and football atJohnson Creek High School where he received all-conferencerecognition in each sport, as well as all-region in baseball. Inhis senior season, McCaffery became Johnson Creek's first-everbaseball player to be recognized as Academic All-District. He wasthe starting catcher on the first-ever boys state championship teamat Johnson Creek as the team won the state title in 2007.
Today he resides in Johnson Creek and works as a sales andmarketing engineer at Spuncast Incorporated in Watertown. McCafferyis also affiliated with the Rock River League as he serves on theleague's executive committee as vice president. He also plays forthe Johnson Creek Pioneers.
