RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's soccer team played a hard-fought game, but eventually
fell to No. 18th-ranked Dominican University 3-1 on Tuesday
afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference battle.
Dominican's Plamen Pamukov, who recorded all three of the Stars'
goals on the day, scored his first two goals over the last seven
minutes of the first half as the Stars took a 2-0 lead into the
half.
The game remained 2-0 until Pamukov added his final goal of the
contest in the 65th minute to push Dominican's lead to 3-0.
The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the 86th minute when Jake
Jankowski (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) put the ball in the net off of a
corner kick assisted by Michael Wier (Greendale, Wis./Heritage
Christian) and Micah Blum (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene). WLC's goal
was just the second allowed by Dominican through eight conference
games this season.
Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and Alex Vogel
(Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) combined for nine saves in
goal for Wisconsin Lutheran, who was out-shot 32-4 in the
match.
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-7, 4-2 NAC) will be back in action on
Saturday when it faces Edgewood College in a NAC contest at 5 p.m.
in Madison.
