Knights knock-out Warriors

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team suffered an 84-60 loss at the hands of the Wartburg College Knights on Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Dunn's Sporting Goods Tip-Off Tournament at the Recreation Complex.

Wisconsin Lutheran built a 15-7 lead at the 11:17 mark in the first half, only to see Wartburg storm back on an 11-0 run to grab a lead that it never relinquish. The Knights went into halftime with a 37-25 advantage.

The Warriors could not cut into the deficit in the second half as Wartburg led by as many as 26. WLC shot 60 percent (6-10) from downtown after shooting just 15 percent (2-13) in the first half.

Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) led the Warriors with 15 points, while Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) added 14.

Wartburg (2-0), who had five players reach double digits in the game, was led by Elizabeth Campbell's 18 points on 4-5 from three-point range. The Knights shot a scorching 65 percent (13-20) from behind the arc.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1) hits the hardwood again on Tuesday when it travels to face UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
