Pointers power past Warriors

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team was defeated by the 24th-ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers 90-42 on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Berg Gym.

UW-Stevens Point jumped out to a 22-5 lead at the 12:05 mark in the opening half and led by 23 points at halftime. The Warriors were plagued by 21 first-half turnovers. For the game, Stevens Point converted 35 WLC turnovers into 41 points.

UWSP out-rebounded Wisconsin Lutheran 50-34, including a 21-8 advantage on the offensive glass. WLC shot 29.2 percent (14-48) from the floor, while UWSP shot 35-79 (44.3 percent).

Wisconsin Lutheran was paced by Emily Laete's (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) 12 points.

UW-Stevens Point (3-0), who had 14 players reach the scoring column, was led by Chelsea Kranz's game-high 20 points and seven rebounds.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-2) will next be in action on Saturday when it hosts Carthage College at 6 p.m. in the Recreation Complex.
