MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team suffered a 73-66 loss to the Carthage
College Lady Reds in a non-conference game Saturday night at the
Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran trailed early as Carthage built a 12-2 lead
with 14:10 left in the opening half. The Lady Reds led 32-23 at the
half. WLC shot only 29 percent (8-27) from the floor in the first
half.
After trailing by as many as 14 in the second half, the Warriors
used a 12-0 run over three minutes to tie the game at 58 with 4:20
remaining. Carthage then went on a 9-0 run to grab a lead it never
relinquished.
Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) led Wisconsin
Lutheran with 17 points. Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of
Languages) and Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added
16 and 11 points, respectively. Alaina Miller (Cedarburg,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) grabbed eight rebounds.
Carthage (2-0), who had four players reach double digits, was
paced by Lisa Gartelos, who scored a game-high 18 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-3) begins Northern Athletics Conference
play on Thursday when it hosts Concordia University Chicago at 7
p.m.
