MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team earned a 63-54 victory over the Concordia
University Chicago Cougars on Thursday night in the Warriors' first
Northern Athletics Conference game of the season at the Recreation
Complex.
Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) scored a
game-high 23 points, while Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School
of Languages) finished with 17 to guide the Warriors, who shot just
34.8 percent from the floor, to their first conference win of the
season.
Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) grabbed a
game-high 10 rebounds as WLC easily won the rebounding battle,
55-37.
Wisconsin Lutheran held a lead for the entire first half until
the 4:10 mark when it trailed 32-30. The Cougars took a slim 35-34
lead into the locker room. WLC, which led by as many as 12 in the
second half (52-40), scored the first basket of the second half to
take back a lead that it would never relinquish.
WLC and CUC turned the ball over 25 and 24 times,
respectively.
Concordia Chicago (2-3, 1-1 NAC), who shot just 15.7 percent
(2-13) from beyond the arc in the second half, was led by Krista
Woldheit's 19 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-3, 1-0 NAC) will be back in action next
Wednesday when it travels to Lisle, Ill., for conference matchup
against Benedictine University at 7 p.m.
