MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team won its third straight game on Saturday by
defeating the Dominican University Stars 80-68 in a Northern
Athletics Conference game at the Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran scored the first bucket of the game and led
the rest of the way en route to starting 3-0 in the NAC. The
Warriors extended their first half lead to 12 points (35-23) with
3:01 to left and took a 37-29 lead into halftime.
Dominican cut WLC's eight-point halftime lead down to three,
44-41, with 15:22 remaining in the second period, but the Warriors
built their lead to as much as 15 at four different points the rest
of the way to coast to the win.
Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages), who
scored 12 points in each half, led the Warriors with 24, including
4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Kristen Dillon (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) and Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen
Lutheran) scored 20 and 13, respectively.
Despite being out-rebounded 40-35, Wisconsin Lutheran closed out
the game by shooting 50 percent (7-14) from three-point range.
Jessica Salinas led the Stars (1-7, 0-3 NAC) with a game-high 31
points and 10 rebounds as she shot an impressive 14 of 14 from the
floor.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-3, 3-0 NAC) has this week off before it
will be back on the hardwood next Saturday, December 15, when it
travels to Elmhurst College (Ill.) for a non-conference game
against the Bluejays beginning at 2 p.m.
