MILWAUKEE - Jake Jankowski converted on a
penalty kick in the 95th minute to send Wisconsin Lutheran to a 1-0
win over the University of Dubuque Spartans in a physical battle on
Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field.
After both teams played two halves of scoreless soccer, the game
was sent to a 10 minute overtime frame. With the Warriors on the
offensive attack, a foul was called on Dubuque in the penalty
box.
Jankowski, a senior, was selected to attempt to kick. He sent
the ball past the arms of a diving Spartan goalkeeper, sending the
Warrior faithful into uproar.
WLC, which has now won four straight games, attempted six shots
in the game, opposed to 16 attempted by Dubuque. Matt Eisold
stopped seven shots in goal for the Warriors. .
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-2) will be back in action on Wednesday
when it travels to Beloit College for a non-conference matchup
against the Buccaneers beginning at 4 p.m.
