Warriors fall to Aurora, suffer first conference loss

AURORA, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team suffered its first conference loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Aurora University Spartans 3-1 at the Thornton Gymnasium.

Aurora, the defending Northern Athletics Conference regular season champions, won the match in four games over the Warriors by scores of 28-30, 30-28, 30-25 and 30-25.

Erica Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) led Wisconsin Lutheran's offensive attack with 10 kills on 23 total attacks. Defensively, Jaclyn Sack (Granger, Ind./Michigan Lutheran) led the way with 18 digs. Ashley Madsen (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) dished out 18 assists.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-8, 2-1 NAC) will hit the road for a pair of non-conference matches this weekend. On Friday, the Warriors will travel to Ashland for a 5:30 p.m. match against Northland College. WLC is scheduled to face St. Norbert College at 3 p.m. on Saturday in DePere.
