NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's tennis team defeated Benedictine University 9-0
before falling to UW-Stevens Point 9-0 in non-conference play on
Saturday afternoon at the Princeton Club.
Wisconsin Lutheran opened up the day by facing Benedictine
University in a Northern Athletics Conference match. At No. 1
singles, Kara Spiegelhoff (Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove) defeated
Yvonne Duong 6-1, 6-1. Rachel Wendt (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley
Lutheran) followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ewelina Stachulek at
No. 2 singles. Shannon Censky (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) picked
up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Jessica Armour.
In No. 4 singles action, Hannah Tullberg (Milwaukee, Wis./Luther
Preparatory) defeated Andrea Olivia 7-6, 6-2. Alycia Spriggs
(Slinger, Wis./Luther Preparatory) was victorious over Michelle
Ames 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Tanya Droster (Watertown,
Wis./Luther Preparatory) closed out with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 win over
Evangelina Gallegos at No. 6 singles.
WLC won all three doubles matches by scores of 8-1, 8-1 and 8-6,
respectively.
The Warriors were defeated by UW-Stevens Point 9-0 in their
final match of the day.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-4, 4-2 NAC) will be back in action on
Sunday when it hosts Marian College at 1 p.m. at the Princeton
Club.
