MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's tennis team closed out the conference portion of its
regular season schedule on Saturday as they fell to Edgewood
College 9-0, but later rebounded with an 8-1 victory over MSOE.
Wisconsin Lutheran began its day by falling to the Edgewood
College Eagles (9-5, 7-1 NAC) 9-0 in a Northern Athletics
Conference match at the Princeton Club.
Later in the afternoon, the Warriors traveled downtown to
McKinley Courts and pulled off an 8-1 win over the MSOE
Raiders.
Rachel Wendt (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) notched the
first win of the day for WLC as she defeated Sophie Janto 6-2, 6-2
at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Shannon Censky (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) was a 7-5, 6-1 winner of Liz Keyes. Hannah
Tullberg (Milwaukee, Wis./Luther Preparatory) followed at No. 4
singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over April Miller. In No. 5 singles
action, Alycia Spriggs (Slinger, Wis./Luther Preparatory) defeated
Ashley Blise 6-0, 6-1. Tanya Droster (Watertown, Wis./Luther
Preparatory) rounded out singles play at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-0 win
over Nicole Bloedorn.
In doubles play, Wendt paired up with Kara Spiegelhoff (Union
Grove, Wis./Union Grove) for an 8-0 win over Joy Cirrilli and
Sophie Janto at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles, Tullberg and Droster
defeated April Miller and Nicole Bloedorn 8-0. Censky and Spriggs
were victorious 8-6 over Liz Keyes and Ashley Blise at No. 6 to
close out the day.
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-6, 6-4 NAC) will conclude its regular
season schedule tomorrow with a pair of non-conference matches
against Beloit and Loras. The Warriors are scheduled to face Beloit
at 9 a.m. and finishing with a match against Loras at 12 p.m.
