SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's basketball team snapped a 10-game losing streak at
Lakeland College by draining a school-record 20 three-point field
goals in a 103-94 win over the Muskies in a Northern Athletics
Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led six
players in double figures with 21 points as the Warriors won for
the first time since January 29, 2000, at Lakeland.
Christian Lindberg (Horsens, Denmark) chipped in with 18 points.
Danny Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and Nate Sorum
(Mequon, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) scored 17 points apiece. Sorum
also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Marcus Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) finished with 14 and
Kyle Madson (Madison, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) came off the bench to
contribute with 11.
Both teams exchanged leads nine times throughout the first half
before WLC took hold of a 53-50 halftime lead. Plath and Zondag
scored 14 points each in the half.
Lakeland opened the second half on a 16-5 run to lead by eight
(66-58) at the 15:31 mark. The Warriors used an 11-0 run to grab
the lead for good (83-81) with seven minutes left on a Plath
three-pointer, one of six for him in the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran shot 44.8 percent (30-67) from the floor,
including 52.6 percent (20-38) from downtown. WLC won the battle on
the boards 45-39 and turned the ball over only eight times.
Kris Saiberlich scored 39 points on 10 three-pointers to pace
the Muskies (10-6, 6-3 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (10-4, 4-3 NAC) concludes its nine-game road
swing Monday night by traveling to Rockford College for a 7 p.m.
contest with the Regents at Seaver Gym.
