AURORA, Ill. - Led by Emily Laete's (Spokane,
Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) 19 points, her first action in eight
games due to injury, the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's
basketball team defeated the Aurora University Spartans 79-67 on
Thursday night at the Thornton Gymnasium.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) also added 19
points and Alaina Miller (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran)
finished with 10.
The Warriors, who shot 65.4 percent from the floor in the first
half, jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed the rest of the
way, taking a 50-39 lead into halftime.
Wisconsin Lutheran opened the second half by scoring the first
five points to lead by 15; its largest lead of the game. Aurora
managed to cut the deficit down to seven points, but that was as
close as they would get.
WLC finished the game shooting 48.3 percent (28-58) from the
floor, while Aurora shot 42.1 percent (24-57).
The 14 turnovers by the Warriors marked their second-lowest
turnover output of the season.
Kim Voiles posted a double-double for the Spartans (8-9, 6-4
NAC) by scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-8, 7-2 NAC) returns to the hardwood on
Monday when it travels to Fond du Lac to take on the Marian College
Sabres in a Northern Athletics Conference at 7 p.m.
