FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's basketball team overcame an ice-cold shooting
performance from the field in the first half and went on to defeat
the Marian College Sabres 75-65 in a Northern Athletics Conference
game on Monday night at the Sadoff Gymnasium.
Despite shooting just 23.3 percent (7-30) in the first half and
trailing by as many as 11 points (13-2), the Warriors, who never
led in the opening half, managed to hang around and head into
halftime with the game tied 25 apiece.
After the Sabres scored the first bucket of the second half to
take a two-point lead (27-25), Wisconsin Lutheran scored
six-straight points and managed the hold the lead the rest of the
way. The Warriors shot 45 percent (18-40) in the second half and
led by as many as 15 points in the half.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) scored 18 points to
pace WLC. Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages)
finished with 13 points off the bench and Emily Laete (Spokane,
Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) added 12 points and a team-high nine
rebounds.
The Warriors shot 35.7 percent (25-70) from the floor for the
game and had a season-low 11 turnovers.
Coleen Moody scored a game-high 19 points off the bench to lead
Marian (6-9, 4-5).
Wisconsin Lutheran (9-8, 8-2 NAC) hosts Rockford College on
Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Recreation Complex in a battle for sole
possession of second place in the NAC.
