MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team moved into sole possession of second place
in the Northern Athletics Conference with a convincing 85-48 win
over the Rockford College Regents on Wednesday night at the
Recreation Complex.
Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) scored a
game-high 23 points, while Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago
Lutheran) knocked down four three-pointers and added 14 points off
the bench.
Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to an early 10-2 lead at the 15:28
mark of the first half and sprinted out to a 48-31 halftime
advantage as Laete scored 19 of her 23 points in the half. WLC shot
58.8 percent (20-34) in the opening half.
The Warriors scored the first 11 points of the second half to
lead by 30 points (61-31) and mounted their largest lead of the
game, 85-48, as the final buzzer sounded.
WLC shot 50 percent (16-32) in the second half and finished the
game shooting 54.5 percent.
Rockford (12-5, 8-3 NAC), who shot just 19.2 percent (5-26) in
the second half, was led by Chelsea Slater's 14 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (10-8, 9-2 NAC) continues its three-game
homestand on Saturday with its annual Winterfest game, hosting
Maranatha Baptist Bible College at 1 p.m.
