RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball team was defeated by the Dominican University Stars 76-71 on Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics Conference game at the Igini Sports Forum.

The Stars regained the lead a short time later and led 40-29 at halftime. Despite the Warriors' 11-point deficit, they managed to shoot 50 percent (12-24) in the opening half.

The Stars scored the first four points of the second half and built a 16-point lead (45-29). Once again, WLC was able to overcome the margin and tie the score 54-54 with 11:17 left.

Marcus Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph), who finished with seven points and a game-high nine rebounds, gave the Warriors a 64-61 lead with 4:51 left when he knocked down three free throws after being fouled on a three-point attempt. Dominican then used a 10-4 run over the next two minutes, keyed by a Jose Garcia three-pointer, to seal the win.

Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led Wisconsin Lutheran in scoring with 19 points. Christian Lindberg (Horsens, Denmark) and Danny Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Garcia led four players in double figures for the Stars (5-8, 2-4 NAC) with 20 points, including 6 of 11 from three-point range.

WLC shot 51 percent (26-51) from the floor for the game, while the Stars shot 45.5 percent (28-61), which included a stellar 50 percent (10-20) from downtown.

Wisconsin Lutheran (7-4, 1-3 NAC) will try for its second NAC win of the season on Saturday when it travels downtown to face the MSOE Raiders at 4:15 p.m.
