AURORA, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team fell to the Aurora University Spartans 4-1 on
Tuesday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference game at AU
Field.
The Spartans (9-6, 4-2 NAC) netted all four of their goals
within the first 22 minutes of the first half to build a 4-0
advantage over Wisconsin Lutheran. The Warriors got on the
scoreboard just before the first half came to a close when freshman
Quin Lutze (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay) found the back of the
net unassisted at the 43:22 mark.
Neither team was able to tally a goal in the second half and the
score remained 4-1 in favor of Aurora as the final horn
sounded.
WLC attempted nine shots in the match, compared to 34 attempted
by AU, which was picked to finish second in the NAC preseason
coaches' poll.
Junior goalkeeper Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) made
13 saves for the Warriors, while sophomore Chris Lorig (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) added one save in just over five minutes of
action.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-9, 2-6 NAC) hosts Concordia University
Wisconsin on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Warrior Field in its final
NAC home match of the regular season.
