MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team was edged by the Concordia University Wisconsin
Falcons 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Athletics
Conference game at Warrior Field.
The teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half of
action after Concordia edged Wisconsin Lutheran 8-6 in the shot
column.
The Warriors tallied the first goal of the game in the 59th
minute of the second half when sophomore Cameron Teske (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) found to back of the net off an assist from
Jacob Mayenschein (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine).
WLC held its lead until the 70:14 mark when Concordia's Bred
Dent tied the game at 1-1. The Falcons took the lead for good seven
minutes later after a Trevor Hess goal at 77:54.
Wisconsin Lutheran had a chance to tie the game with 25 seconds
left on a penalty kick after the Falcons were issued a red card for
a handball in the box, but Matt Birschbach's (Waukesha,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) attempt was blocked by CUW's keeper.
The Warriors finished with 14 shot attempts in the contest,
compared to 22 attempted by the Falcons. Junior goalkeeper Matt
Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) made 15 saves for WLC, which
dropped its fifth straight game.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-10, 2-7 NAC) travels to River Forest,
Ill., on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match with the Concordia University
Chicago Cougars.
