RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's soccer team snapped its five-game losing skid with a
2-1 victory over the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in a
Northern Athletics Conference game on Wednesday.
Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia Chicago played through 40
minutes of scoreless soccer before Brett Maxwell (Green Bay,
Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) netted his first goal of the season off
an assist from Jacob Mayenschein (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine) to
put the Warriors up 1-0 at the 40:54 mark. The score remained 1-0
until halftime.
The Warriors extended their lead to 2-0 less than two minutes
into the second half when sophomore Cameron Teske (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) found the back of the net on a pass from
Nate Waggoner (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) at 46:34.
Concordia Chicago scored its lone goal of the match on a penalty
kick at 60:17.
WLC attempted 20 shots in the game, compared to nine attempted
by the Cougars. James Sather (Milwaukee, Wis./Nathan Hale) finished
with a team-high four shots for the forest green and white. Junior
goalkeeper Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) finished with
five saves for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran (5-10, 3-7 NAC) closes out its 2008 home
slate by hosting UW-Platteville in a non-conference matchup on
Friday at 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
